A porcelain veneer is an ultra-thin shell of dental porcelain bonded to the front of a tooth. Because porcelain reflects light much like natural enamel, veneers can hide stains that whitening cannot remove, repair chips and cracks, close small gaps, and reshape teeth that look small, uneven, or worn.
Veneers also hold up well over time. According to a 2021 systematic review of 25 publications in the Journal of Clinical Medicine, porcelain laminate veneers had an estimated 10-year survival rate of 95.5%, although grinding and clenching can affect that outcome. If you grind your teeth, we may suggest a night guard to protect your veneers.
The Porcelain Veneer Process
Consultation and Design
Dr. Hulsey starts with a consultation to learn what you want to change and to check that veneers fit your concerns. We discuss the shape, size, and shade you prefer and what the finished result may look like. You can take your time deciding, and there is no pressure to move forward.
Tooth Preparation
We gently remove a small amount of enamel from the teeth receiving veneers so the veneers fit naturally and bond securely. Impressions are then taken and sent to a dental lab, where your custom veneers are made. Temporary veneers are placed in the meantime so you leave the office with a complete smile.
Bonding and Final Result
When your custom veneers are ready, Dr. Hulsey bonds each one to the tooth surface, checks your bite, and makes any final adjustments. He then reviews aftercare so you know how to protect your veneers.

We offer both porcelain and composite veneers, and the right choice depends on your goals, budget, and the concerns you want to address. Porcelain veneers are made from ceramic material and resist staining, which makes them a good fit when you want long-lasting results.
Composite veneers are applied directly to the tooth surface using tooth-colored resin, typically in one appointment, and they tend to cost less. They can be a good way to improve your smile before you commit to porcelain.
